DESCRIPTION:
Buncombe County seeks Local Health Director to serve as administrative
head of the Buncombe County Health Center with an annual budget
of approximately $17.5 million and a total staff of 252 full-time
positions. More information is available through our website,
www.buncombecounty.org. Duties include planning, budgeting,
supervision, evaluation and implementation of public health
programs and services appropriate for Buncombe County along
with the duties and powers provided for under the provisions
of GS 130A-41.
ESSENTIAL
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Must have considerable knowledge of management
principals, techniques and practices with working
knowledge of applicable federal and state laws, rules
and regulations. Must have ability to exercise sound
judgment in analyzing situations and making decisions;
direct employees and programs in the various areas
of responsibility; and develop and maintain effective
working relationships with the general public, and
with federal, state and local officials.
REQUIREMENTS:

A
medical doctorate; or
-
A master's
degree in public health administration and at least one
year of experience in health programs or services; o
-
A master's
degree in a public health discipline other than public
health administration and at least three years of employment
experience in health programs or health services; or
-
A master's
degree in public administration and at least two years
experience in health programs or health services; or
-
A master's
degree in a field related to public health and at least
three years experience in health programs or health services;
or
-
A bachelor's
degree in public health administration or public administration
and at least three years of experience in health programs
or health services.
