Health Partner Award

The NCALHD "Public
Health Partners Award" is awarded to recognize organizations, businesses,
and professional associations that have made significant contributions
to the advancement and promotion of public health in North Carolina.
Strengthening
the Black Family, Inc. has a long history of partnering with various
public health organizations to provide real and lasting impact
on families in North Carolina. Of particular significance has been
its partnerships with governmental, private, and academic institutions
who share similar interests. These institutions include: University
of North Carolina Chapel Hill, Schools of Public Health and Medicine,
the North Carolina Department of Environment and Natural Resources,
Division of Epidemiology, North Carolina Division of Public Health,
and Wake County Human Services.
The mission of
Strengthening the Black Family, Inc. is to improve the quality
of life for families in Wake County and beyond with special emphasis
on black families. The organization seeks to ensure the survival
and strengthening of black families while still underscoring those
traditional values which serve to strengthen all families.
Strengthening
the Black Family, Inc. was established in 1980 by one organization
in Southeast Raleigh. It has blossomed into a coalition of over
40 organizations in 2008.
