NORTH CAROLINA ASSOCIATION OF LOCAL HEALTH DIRECTORS

SPECIAL (CALLED) FULL ASSOCIATION MEETING

JULY 27, 2000

NC HOSPITAL ASSOCIATION

CARY, NC

CALL TO ORDER Ð The NCALHD met for a special/called full association meeting. President Tom Bridges called the meeting to order at 9:00 a.m., and stated the purpose of this meeting was to hear the report and recommendation from the Technology Committee.

ANNOUNCEMENTS

Tom Bridges then recognized Dr. McBride, State Health Director, for brief remarks.

Dr. McBride reported on planning underway to increase communication between his office and local health directors, through regularly scheduled meetings. Dennis Harrington is heading up this project.

In other action, Colleen Bridger presented a RESOLUTION acknowledging the lasting accomplishments of Dr. Ann Wolfe, which passed unanimously by NCALHD. (See Attachments).

Tom then called on Marc Kolman, Chair, Technology Committee, to provide the committee report and recommendation. In recognizing Marc to begin the presentation, Tom thanked him and his committee for the vast amount of time, talent, and energy devoted to the critically important charge to this committee. In presenting the report, Marc introduced and acknowledged persons who participated on the committee and who gave the background and briefing at this time. The attached printed materials from the committee report appear as an Attachment to these minutes.

A Motion to NCALHD from Health Services Management Steering Committee regarding NC Public Health Automation PASSED after discussion and vote. (See Attachments).

The next NCALHD meeting will be on August 10, 2000, at 2:00 p.m. at the Sheraton in RTP. This date being in conjunction with the North Carolina County CommissionerÕs Association Annual Conference. Tom urged as many Health Directors as could go to attend this important annual event with our affiliate organization.

The meeting was then adjourned at 12:30 p.m.
